TARGETED MOBILITY TRAINING

Targeted mobility training refers to a focused approach to improving mobility in specific areas of the body through structured exercises and movements. Unlike general mobility exercises, which may address overall flexibility and joint mobility, targeted mobility training hones in on particular joints, muscle groups, or movement patterns that are identified as areas needing improvement.

​

The goals of targeted mobility training may include:

  • Increasing range of motion

  • Correcting imbalances

  • Enhancing functional movement

  • Alleviating pain and discomfort

​

Examples of targeted mobility training exercises may include:

  • Hip flexor stretches for individuals with tight hip flexors

  • Thoracic spine mobility drills for those with limited upper back mobility

  • Ankle mobility exercises for individuals experiencing stiffness in the ankles

  • Shoulder mobility drills to improve range of motion and flexibility in the shoulders

  • Specific stretches or movements to address tightness or restrictions in other areas of the body as needed.
